William Carlos Williams Inspired Poetry

This is Jus t to Say:
By Haley Cano

I have eaten
All of your cake
That was in the freezer
Behind the ice-cream

I know it’s your Birthday
And I know you saved it for the party
But it looked so delicious
I couldn’t resist

Forgive me
It was chocolaty
So creamy
It was great
Wheelbarrow Poem:
By – Ryan Hill

So much depends
On
A chicken

For it create
Little chickens
And eggs

To eat and
Survive

Wheelbarrow Poem:
By – Isaiah Weatherspoon

So much depends
On me
Cleaning everything
Watching everyone
Why
Does it all
Depend
On me

This is Just to Say:

The X-box

And which

It was a good

Upon
A book
Filled with knowledge
Scrambled with words

Wheelbarrow Poem:
By – Rose Liners

So much depends upon pens
Having to write
Whatever
Whenever

Never to run out
Of ink

If so . . .
Buh-bye

Wheelbarrow Poem:
By – Remington Froncek

So much depends
Upon
My skateboard

Topped with grip-tape
And trucks and wheels
Underneath

Giving me
Something to do

This is Just to Say:
By – Marques Hodges

I have dented
Your car’s hood
And also
Broken your windshield

And this may
Cost a ton of cash
But
It’s your fault

Forgive me
That your car jumped
In front of me
On my
Scooter

P.S. I felt
Like a
stuntman

Metaphor Poems

The Flower is the Sun:
By – Emma Sparks

The flower is the sun
So beautiful, bright, and small
Standing on the ground
Cascading up the wall

It spreads its glistening petals
Stuck from the morning dew
Drawing in the sunlight
Following its every move

The flower is the sun
Let its petals shine
So small and frail
I hope it’s always mine

My Life is a Game of Scrabble:
By – Jessica Burke

The possibilities of words,
The chosen and the unchosen letters,
What I can make of my choices,
And how the ending plays out.

My life is a game of Scrabble,
The chances to take are endless,
But it always ends,
So, use your life’s risky, chancy, letters.

People are Stars:
By – Jenny Le

People are stars
Shining bright all the time
Trying to get recognition
Brighter and brighter
Our egos get ahead of us
Using everything to outshine the others
But eventually it’s gone
Our glow fading away
Forming into a black hole of nothing
People are stars

My Life is Football:
By – Aiden Cook

My life is football
As I walk on the field
I already know the deal is sealed
When I call that play
The guys already know what I’m going to say
But when we are in formation
We all get a sensation
We all want to hit
We all need to sit
And that’s my life of football

Life is an Elephant:
By – Hannah Ballard

Life is an elephant
Really big and wondrous
All you have to do is explore
Life can open many doors
But if only you try, life
Can pull you down
Yet, at the same time it can
Pull you up

My Life is Softball:
By – Gabby Thompson

My life is softball
Running on the field
Base by base
4 years of practice
Standing on the plate
Waiting for the ball
1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base
Home.
My life is softball
And I just made a home run.

School Is a Dungeon:
By – Maddie Anzaldi

School is a dungeon,
All children forced to go,
If you make 1 mistake,
The teachers will blow!
They’ll chain you up,
And send you to the master,
Where you’re then forced
To find your fate of disaster.

Baseball is my Life:
By – Remington Froncek

Baseball is my life
My knees start to shake when I get up to pitch
I’m covered in sweat
If I mess up I give them a base
The player’s running
The umpire’s screaming
Coaches are giving signs
I wind up and all I hear is . . .
STRIKE!

Mister Ead Ead:
By – Jikese Hatchell

I love you my friend
Oh, how bad I miss you friend
Please come home quickly
                                                Please stop bugging me
I just gave you lunch at 12
                                                You don’t need a drink
You ate all my shoes today
                                                Leave me alone doggy Ead!

Haiku/Tanka:
By – Conor McGuire

Mother nature’s love
Is sun shining over us
Hope will come to us
                                      Mother nature’s love
The stars shining love on us
                                      The stars will shine bright
                                      Our hearts will always combine
                                         Children will come too
                                      We will live inside shelter

A Day at the Beach:
By – Katherine Scarborough

The breeze and light follows me
So peaceful and rich
The ending the comes too soon

Personification Poems

Love is a Friend:
By – Gabby Thompson

Love, he will find you
No matter where you go
You can try to hide
But he is always by your side

He is there in the dark
He is there in your heart
Love he will find you

You can try and leave
But he is up your sleeve
You can never let him go
He knows what you know

Love is a friend
Oh, love is a friend of mine

Sadness is a Friend:
By – Celine Pandosy

Sadness is the only thing I have
He sticks around, no matter the occasion
He I’d wish he’d leave
But the only stays
He tries to comfort me
Day by day

Sadness tries keeping me company
No matter what I say
Why does he stay
When I stay to “go away”

But hey, sadness is the
Only “friend” I have
He’s the only one who stays with me anyway
I guess I’ll have to deal with SADNESS
In a different way . . .

Words are My Enemy:
By – Savannah Kramek

Words are my enemy, no matter what I do
They’re taken the wrong way
Mis-heard,
And hurtful

They are always there
You can’t run or hide
The world uses them as emotion
But they are mistaken
It’s actions that have the power
A hard hit get the point across
One tight hug spreads the love
Only actions can have the emotion
Words are the enemy

Remarkable Adventure Poems

Remarkable Adventure:
By – Corey Rickards

I was eating off the table
With food in the open
Mom was still cooking
With the house smokin’
There were monsters under my feet
I stabbed him with my fork
But then that jerk
Took my pork

I was sleeping in my bed
With my body wide open
I was dead asleep
When all of a sudden, I started chokin’
Then I woke up in fear
I could never go back to sleep
You know why?
Because that monster’s a creep
And that’s why I didn’t turn my home work in

A Remarkable Adventure:
By – Kara Westmoreland

I was fng on my chores
Dreading cleaning my room
When someone arose at the door
He was very suspicious
A tall skinny man
Who had a newspaper
I immediately ran

Sprinting as fast as I could
I ran and ran
Until I got to Mexico
Come to find out I was banned
I decided to fly to Argentina
To where I would be safe
Hopefully the man wouldn’t recognize me
Because I hid my face

I realized he was gone
So I took a train back home –
To my luck
We somehow ended up in Rome
Please teacher believe me
Please teacher believe me
My homework isn’t done
I really wanted to do it
But I didn’t get home until oneinishing the dishes

Poems for 2 Voices

Poem for 2 Voices:
By – Corey Meneiro

I love the dark
                                      I love the light
I love death
                                      I love my life
I want to be buried
Alive
                                      I don’t want to die
I can’t wait for death
To come and end
My life
                                      I want to stay alive
Death won’t come
Any faster
                                      My life is ending so
                                      I have to say goodbye

Friends:
By – Gabby Thompson and Elijah Swartzfager

Friends are delicate people
                                                Friends are always equal
Friends like to play
                                                Outside everyday
They’ve got each other’s
Back
If on steps on a tack

                Together We Stand

Poem for 2 Voices:
By – Hannah Norton & Anthony Cook

Sadness is my life
Happiness is what I live for
It makes me feel alive
It makes me laugh and smile
Sadness makes me cry
And eat ice-cream
Happiness makes me want to run
                                      Around the world
Sadness makes me cold
To the soul
                                      Happiness makes me be worm
                                      To the bone

                   We are different

Summer:
By – Maddie Anzaldi

The sun has finally
Some out to say hi
                                      So have the bees
                                      Buzzing their way by
The water of the
Beach, is calling my name
                                      In the sand is
                                      Where we’ll play a game
The ice-cream
And volleyball are passed
Around
                                      Under the sea
                                      A seashell is what
                                       I found

                These are the joys
                That summer brings

                And like every
                Year, we’ll
                Cry when it
                Leaves

Love:
By – Dilmer Meraz

Love game me happiness
Love broke my heart to pieces
Love gave me life
                                                Love made the darkness
                                                In me
Love is the thing I cherish
                                                Love is the thing that
                                                Makes me cry
Love made me have a family
                                                Love made my home
                                                Empty
I am always filled with
Happiness
                                                I can’t say the same
I love this emotion
                                                I don’t like this emotion
It makes flowers bloom
                                                It makes things die

Poem for 2 Voices:
 By – Makenzie Laureano

I love you
                             I love you more
When she talks
Flowers bloom
                             But he’s he still sees
                             Right through
She’s the land
That I live in!
                             He’s the lake that
                             I swim in!
Sometimes I
Can’t tell
                             But when I take off
                             He can tell
What would I do
If I lost you
                             What would I do if
                             I lost you
I love you
                             I love you too
